Physics, engineering & math you can build with your hands.
I'm a mechanical engineer and homeschool mom who got tired of the gap in technical classes for homeschoolers, so I started teaching them myself. Private tutoring, pod classes, and co-op courses for upper elementary, middle, and high school students around Clearwater, built around one idea: once you see the why behind the math, it stops feeling mundane.
From an actual Unit 6 straw rocket lesson, measuring launch angle against distance traveled.
Three ways to work together
However we work together, I teach it the same way: hands-on first, concept second.
One-on-one tutoring
I'll work with your student in physics, engineering, or math, at whatever level they're actually at. A parent is always on site for sessions.
$50–$60 per hour
Pods & co-ops
I'll bring a full hands-on unit (rockets, circuits, biomedical engineering, and more) right to your pod or co-op.
$100–$150 per child, depending on group size and session length
Step Up For Students provider
I'm an approved direct-pay provider with Step Up For Students, so scholarship families can use their funds to pay for lessons directly. No reimbursement forms, no waiting.

Why I started this
Stephanie Young, Founder & Instructor
I'm a homeschool mom to two neurodivergent kids. When I went looking for solid physics, engineering, and math classes for them, I kept coming up short. There just wasn't much technical instruction built for homeschoolers. So I built it myself.
I believe kids learn best when they understand the why behind the what. Once you can actually see the purpose behind the math, once it's the thing that gets a rocket off the ground or a motor spinning, it stops feeling mundane. That's the idea behind every lesson here: build first, and let the concept catch up.

Courses & curriculum
A few courses run each year, alongside custom tutoring and single-unit lessons for pods and co-ops. Group courses run $100–$150 per child depending on group size and session length, for the full 8–12 week series (not a single class), with materials included.
Physics of Everyday Things
An introduction to physics through the objects kids already know: why bikes balance, how solar ovens capture heat, what makes a rocket fly. Each week pairs a core concept with a hands-on build.
Engineering Design Lab
A project-based course in the engineering design process. Students identify a problem, prototype a solution, test it, and redesign, using the same iterative process used in professional engineering work.
Science Fair
Hands-on guidance through a real science fair project, start to finish: picking a question worth asking, designing a fair test, running it, and presenting the results like an actual researcher would.
Break It, Bend It, Fix It
An exploration of material properties and chemistry with an engineering flair. Kids test how different materials bend, break, and hold up under stress, then apply what they learn to real design problems.
Also available as single-unit lessons for pods & co-ops
- Transportation engineering
- Electricity & circuits
- DNA & biomedical engineering
- Solar ovens & thermodynamics
- Air, space & straw rockets
- NASA Artemis & space exploration
How a session comes together
Reach out
Tell me a bit about your student, your pod, or your co-op, and what you're hoping to work on.
Plan the lesson
We settle on a course, a single unit, or an ongoing tutoring schedule, and agree on pricing and dates.
Build together
I bring the materials. Private lessons are always held with a parent on site; pod and co-op classes run at your location.
Let's plan a lesson
Reach out directly, or send a note through the form and I'll follow up within a day or two.
